MQH EXPERIENCE:

I'm 15 years old and I own four horses.  I can't remember my first experience with MQH but I know it began when I started taking lessons on a horse named Fudge when I was about seven years old, learning to ride western.  MQH built up my confidence on how to ride and I competed in my first horse show with Fudge showing western. My mom and I then purchased my first horse named Hottie.  Several years after that we purchased another horse named Kid, from MQH, who has been the best horse anyone could dream of!  I have had a lot of fun and success in the show ring with Kid and have received several awards for both English and Western.  Then this month we purchased Oro, a two year old from MQH and I hope to reach many new goals with him, by taking on a new challenge of working with a younger horse.

EXPERIENCE WITH HORSES BEFORE COMING TO MQH:

I had a 10h pony named Maggie, before taking lessons on Fudge.  Maggie taught me how to care for horses and about responsibility. I would ride her bareback around the pasture just as any little girl would.

LESSONS LEARNED THROUGH RIDING:

It's not always about winning.  Losing has taught me some of the basics of winning.  It definitely helps me remember what not to do!

FAVORITE THING ABOUT HORSES:

There are many favorite things about horses, but my favorite is the unbreakable bond you build. With all the horses I've been around or ridden, I have learned you build a special connection only you and the horse have.

FAVORITE EXPERIENCE WITH SHOWING AND HORSES:

My favorite experience was when we bought Kid.  Kid is a chunky broad Palomino Quarter Horse. I remember I had taken a few lessons on him at MQH and I fell in love with him.  One afternoon my mom and I were leaving our house for me to go take a lesson on him, and mom told me to grab the camera to take some pictures.  I finished my lesson and was brushing him off so he could go back to his stall, and mom told me to take a picture of him... So I did and she said "you just took a picture of your new horse" and I couldn't stop smiling!  At every show I'm so thankful I got Kid because he has the biggest heart!

FAVORITE ASPECTS OF MQH:

My favorite aspect of MQH is John and Laura's passion for horses. Every time you go to the barn they greet you with a big hug and are ready to share their passion and knowledge of horses with you.  MQH builds up trust with the horse and are never harsh to any horse.

FUTURE GOALS:

My family this month let me have the opportunity to purchase Oro, a two year old buckskin.  I have many goals for him this year and can't wait to see his progress in the show ring. I can't just say one goal but I do hope to keep riding as long as I can and have MQH help me every step of the way.
